Michael Murphy

Michael Murphy is the Executive Vice President of Network Advisory Services. In this role, Michael is responsible for leading the group’s Infrastructure Consulting, Audit and Brokerage practices, which focus on aligning client requirements with efficient and cost-effective network solutions.

For more than two decades, Michael Murphy has designed and deployed fiber networks for clients requiring complex technology solutions. His experience and depth of subject matter knowledge have earned him the reputation as one of the industry’s foremost experts on the intersection of network infrastructure and real estate. Beyond the technical aspects of network planning, one of Michael’s greatest strengths is a wider understanding of how IT elements fit together to address broader business issues. Over the course of his career, Murphy has advised on hundreds of projects, delivering sophisticated strategies to clients ranging from start-ups to global Fortune 100s. Representative clients include: Digital Realty, Trip Advisor, Ford, Draft Kings, Boston Children’s Hospital, SpaceX, Kiewit among others.

Prior to joining CBRE, Murphy served as CEO and co-founder of New England Fiber, Inc. and FiberLocator, two of the industry’s leading resources for telecom advisory and fiber optic network mapping and research. NEF, Inc. was acquired by CBRE in January of 2020, launching the Network Advisory Services practice.
